What We Treat
Anxiety
There are several types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and phobias. The two most common treatment types for anxiety disorders are medication and psychotherapy.
For many people, a combination of both provides the most relief. In addition to prescribing medications for people with anxiety, our psychiatrists are also qualified to provide talk therapy and psychosocial interventions. Common psychotherapies associated with anxiety treatment include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Mood Disorders
Affective disorders are a set of psychiatric disorders, also called mood disorders. The main types of affective disorders are depression and bipolar disorder. Symptoms vary by individual and can range from mild to severe.
A psychiatrist or other trained mental health professional can diagnose an affective disorder. This is done with a psychiatric evaluation. Affective disorders can be disruptive to your life. However, there are effective treatments available, including both medication and psychotherapy.
Depression
Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called Major Depressive Disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living.
Depression can affect your concentration, energy, appetite, and sleep. You may feel hopeless or helpless. Most people with depression feel better with medication, psychotherapy, or both. Transcranial magnetic stimulation TMS is an FDA-approved treatment for major depression covered by most commercial insurance plans.
Sleep Disorders
Sleep disorder refers to conditions that affect sleep quality, timing, or duration and impact a person’s ability to properly function while they are awake. These disorders can contribute to other medical problems, and some may also be symptoms of underlying mental health issues.
You have trouble falling or remaining asleep. You find it difficult to stay awake during the day. There are imbalances in your circadian rhythm that interfere with a healthy sleep schedule. You are prone to unusual behaviors that disrupt your sleep Any of these signs could indicate a sleep disorder.
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder is a form of depression also known as SAD, seasonal depression, or winter depression. In the Diagnostic Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), this disorder is identified as a type of depression – Major Depressive Disorder with Seasonal Patterns.
People with SAD experience mood changes and symptoms similar to depression. The symptoms usually occur during the fall and winter months when there is less sunlight and usually improve with the arrival of spring. The most difficult months for people with SAD in the United States tend to be January and February
TMS Therapy
TMS therapy is an innovative approach to treating depression. The non systemic and noninvasive therapy is a life-changing opportunity for those who have been unsuccessful in reaching remission through the use of antidepressants.
During a TMS treatment session, a magnet similar in strength to that used in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine is used to stimulate nerve cells in the area of the brain thought to control mood. These magnetic pulses may have a positive effect on the brain’s neurotransmitter levels, making long-term remission possible.
Non Invasive Procedure
The Advanced Therapy TMS device is a completely painless and non-surgical procedure. No anesthesia is required.
Covered By Insurance
Most insurance companies will help cover the cost of your Advanced Therapy TMS consultation. Find out more by contacting us today.
No Negative Side Effects
After your session is over, you can confidently return to any regularly scheduled activities such as work or school. Your sleep will not be affected at all either.
